What's this course about?

What we say matters! And if you are a yoga teacher, the things you say in class (and how you say them) deeply affect the student's learning experience. It's no secret that yoga is becoming increasingly popular in the West. And though this era offers an exciting opportunity to share the teachings and benefits of a yoga practice, it also means teachers must cultivate effective teaching methods. As such, yoga teachers must explore the best way to meet the needs of their diverse students. And, more than anything else, in an āsana classes, yoga teachers meet those needs through cueing.

As such, yoga teachers must be skillful in their personal communication and cueing methods so that they can reach the ever-growing and evolving yoga population. Students are coming to classes with different cultural backgrounds, experiences, knowledge, and needs. So the big question is, as a yoga teacher, how are you going to reach those students through skillful language and cues? Additionally, how can you be effective and efficient in the way that you cue? And, maybe most importantly, how can you cue in ways that cultivate authenticity while still honoring yoga's history and lineage--and meet the students' needs?

The answer to the above questions? Well, it varies. But one way is through language. As teachers, we must study our own language habits, patterns, and cues in the effort to evolve as communicators in the yoga classroom. Join me for this fully online, self-paced course that uncovers the theory and practice of effective cueing in yoga classes!

Why should you take it?

Yoga teachers must always remain in the seat of the student. To continually refine our own practice and teaching methods not only improves our own understanding of yoga, it serves our students as well. There are endless asana labs and anatomy workshops. But one area that we forget about as teachers is...teaching. This course, like most courses through Rebecca Warfield Yoga & Wellness will explore academic theories that move beyond the physical practice and into teaching methodologies inspired by tried and true educational methods.

At Dharma Drops, we appreciate the diversity of the full human experience. You don’t have to practice yoga every day. You don’t have to be a vegan. You can be a vegan. You don’t have to believe in the vibrational healing powers of crystals. Or you can. There is no one-size-fits all here. As such, we're dumping out the proverbial yoga Kool-Aid. Come as you are. You are welcome here!

And just a heads up, some of the Dharma Drops content is NSFW. Sometimes we talk about Krishna. Other times, we drop the f-bomb.
